  • About Jetpack Interactive:

    Jetpack Interactive has been a fixture in the Vancouver game development community since 2011. Our studio DNA originated from three flagship Vancouver development studios (Black Box Games, Deep Fried Entertainment, & United Front Games). We are a console & PC game developer and have focused on building long-term relationships with AAA game studios who need engineering expertise to help bring their games to market.

    Jetpack has worked alongside Sony Interactive Entertainment (Santa Monica Studio) on several God Of War projects, including the port of GOW 2018 to PC/Steam and GOW Ragnarok.  Jetpack’s work has received praise from critics and Sony Santa Monica alike and our studio continues to collaborate with Santa Monica Studio and other  Sony first-party and third-party developers.

    We are looking for skilled game developers to join our team and help PlayStation bring some of their most prized IPs to market.     Role:

    You are a gamer at heart. You’re comfortable delving into art and code. You understand the importance of being able to translate from art to tech and back again, so our teams can leverage the toolsets/workflows to work in collaboration to get the iconic art from this legendary franchise into the game.

    Responsibilities:

    ● Research, define, improve, and maintain artist pipelines, tools, and workflows, authoring (particles, flip books, flow maps), lighting theory (PBR/PBL, LUTs), HDR pipeline, color theory, profiling, and/or optimizing for real-time rendering

    ● Liaise effectively both internally and with our client to drive collaboration on the project

    ● Troubleshoot and resolve issues; invent or build robust, quality technical implementations

    ● Participate in art asset reviews to help identify technical concerns or risks

    ● Partner with leads and directors to meet visual and technical standards 

    ● Understand, communicate and prioritize the needs of our clients

    Requirements:

    ● 7+ years of professional experience in computer-generated art

    ● Proficient scripting/programming experience with Python

    ● Intimate knowledge of Maya

    ● Solid understanding of PySide\PyQt

    ● Experience with HLSL, GLSL or similar shader languages

    ● Expertise of 3D math fundamentals

    ● Strong understanding of algorithm design and their inherent complexity

    ● Ability to write clean, maintainable and extensible code with attention to reusability

    ● Excellent spoken and written communication

    ● Ability to effectively manage relationships with external clients

    Preferred Experience:

    ● Industry experience working on or shipping AAA titles

    ● Expert ability in 3D modelling DCCs such as Maya or equivalent

    ● Programming experience with C++
